Classes, Workshops, Camps, and Playgroups
...or is 7 weeks insanely early for any kind of class? I am thinking of a mummy and me type class, where I (selfishly) can meet other mums, whilst baby lies there sleeping and omitting gas (because that's about all he is capable of right now).
Maybe a post-partum pilates or yoga class. I also think itsy bitsy yoga starts that young -- it's basically baby massage and talking with other moms.
Don't waste your $$$. Get your DH to babysit and go out with your own friends to dinner.
Join a gym. Put the DC in day care there. DC will see other babies. You will meet friends. Don't do the classes that is BS.
Gym daycares=sick kids and you won't meet other moms. I did a post partum pilates class with my first starting at 3 weeks and ended up forming a great playgroup with the other moms that lasted a couple of years.

Music together is a great class for babies, but I would recommend waiting a few months.
The Y's usually have mommy and me type groups. |
Check with your local hospital about a mom's group. Shady Grove in Rockville organizes classes for 1st time moms with kids of the same age. It is a wonderful way to meet other woman. We got together once a week for years sometimes with the babies or sometimes at night without..
I loved Itsy Bitsy Yoga at VHC...we did not start as early ast 7 weeks but there were some in the class that did. It is a great way to get out of the house and meet other moms. Plus, some of the "yoga" we learned really helped calm my daughter down outside of class.
