Joe MAGA is in an abusive relationship with Trump.

To turn away from Trump means they need to admit that they were fooled by Trump. They can’t handle that psychological break with maturity or nuance.

That said, I think this debacle will cause some Joe MAGA’s to not even vote. They’ll say “both these guys are terrible choices” and decide to stay home. Fine with me! I’d rather they stay home; Democrats won’t win over these cultists any time soon.
