Yikes! And that’s with people stocking up before tariffs!! |
Amazing to see the 4Q24 high point and the impacts of the November election clearly crystalize in the data. Everyone knew the good times were ending. |
Electricity is sold on wholesale markets. 2025 summer temps are averaging almost 2 degrees F higher than average. But also humidity levels are record-setting. Plus, data centers are putting significant demand on electrical resources. A new IEEFA analysis highlights a dramatic spike in capacity market prices set at auction by PJM — an electric grid operator covering many Mid-Atlantic and Midwest states — largely tied to data centers, like those in Northern Virginia's "data center alley." One estimate found that data centers accounted for over 60% of the increase in prices in a PJM auction held last year, the report says — representing $9.3 billion that will be passed along to customers. This demand is reported elsewhere. And guess what? If you rely on fossil fuels to meet that demand, it will get even warmer and more humid, increasing the cooling demand. That also increases damage from storms/floods (Warmer air holds more water, dumps more water when it meets a cold front), which increases costs for repairing transmission poles and lines. Yeah, try blaming it all on liberals and their solar/wind energy. We need more, not less. We can externalize the costs for only so long, eventually we'll all pay. |
The 6 million sq ft of data center space is probably more of a cause than green energy. Blame the AI power sinkhole. Not libs putting up solar panels. |
The Dow quietly hit an all time high and the U.S. credit rating has increased. |
Yes, but the higher taxes on the public are a drain on the GDP and cause inflation. The DOW is at a high on the bases f like 7 stocks. Most of the market is flat or down. And...the market is not a measure of the economy. It is a measure of corporate profits. So layoffs that boost profitability mean greater unemployment and lower GDP. |
It's not green energy, it's energy. It's also the cheapest and fastest to deploy and the OBBA made it impossible for any new development. You should actually learn something before speaking about something you don't understand. We can debate on whether you think a wind turbine is ugly (last time I checked coal and gas are horrible and destroy the land), but they produce a tremendous amount of energy. It's why more than 50% of the energy produced in SD and 40% in ND are wind. Nothing to do with "green". |
It's absolutely the cause and Trump took clean energy off the table. So know we will have less of that. |
S&P: “.. Corporate sentiment has collapsed from +19 to -22 in six months, while tariff mentions in S&P 500 earnings calls exploded 19x to over 6,500. With 23% of large enterprises planning workforce cuts .., a coordinated pullback that could signal broader economic deceleration ahead.” |
