ESET or Kaspersky Anti-Virus Programs - which is the best? PLEASE HELP!

Anonymous
I have had a horrible time with a nasty virus and now it is gone since my hard drive has been wiped clean and I have had no problems the last 5 weeks. I had carbonite to back up my files and was calling them to restore back to my computer and they said that I should change my anti-virus program as McAfee was not the best out there and the virus could very well be dormant in my files on Carbonite and then I could have the same problem all over again. Which I definitely don't want to happen.

Carbonite recommended:

ESET

KASPERSKY

Which program do all of you computer and security geniuses recommend?

Here is some history on the problem:

I have on my computer MCAFEE which is what Office Depot said was the best

Carbonite said that the virus could very well still be on my files and it was evident that McAfee could not stop it.

She said ESET could quarantine the virus.

Office Depot was paid $170 to remove the virus infecting my computer. The virus came back twice so was taken to Office Depot 3 times. The same virus came back still after Office Depot and McAfee were showing no virus during routine scans, so they wiped my hard drive clean and used the restore disks to put the computer back to what it was like when I bought it. I have a Toshiba laptop that will be a year old in July. These problems started back in February.
