When do you have unmedicated IUIs?

Wondering what determines whether medicated versus unmedicated IUIs is the proper protocol?

I did an unmedicated IUI because I have a high FSH, so am not going to respond to clomid or injectables (I'll have one lead follicle and nothing else)- I also have bad cervical mucuous, so I wanted to give it a try once before moving onto IVF (it worked for me but I miscarried at 8 weeks). If I do IVF, I need the estrogen priming protocol for high FSH.
