Best/easiest way to pit cherries?

Anonymous
Anything you can recommend, aside from getting a cherry pitter? My kids are 1 and 3, so too young to eat cherries with the pit in them. Thanks.

I do my best to cut them in half-- give the kid the half without the pit and eat the other half myself.

I have to say my spouse laughed at me when I bought a cherry pitter but they are handy.

Get the cherry pitter. Seriously. They're inexpensive and I've yet to find anything that's as good. It's quicker and much less messy than doing it with a knife.

Ditto.

Cherry pitter. You can also use it to pit olives. I am anti-unnecessary gadgets, but it doesn't take up that much room and really is good (and safer than a knife, I feel) for those two tasks.

Yep, I finally bought a pitter a couple of years ago and can't believe I waited so long. It's awesome and DS can use it himself. Oxo brand. Use a bed bath and beyond coupon.

My kids are the same age. I finally caved and bought a cherry chomper off amazon. My daughter loves pitting them now!

Cherry pitters are the best. You can also use them on olives.
