Luteal phase questions

Anonymous
So, I just charted this past month for he first time and didn't even start at the beginning of my cycle but it looks like I had a 9 or 10 day luteal phase (not sure when to count because temp didn't spike but rather, slow rise). I read that the luteal phase remains constant so trying to decide if that is good or bad--bad because mine is short or good because it means it was that short when I conceived easily the first time (2 years ago). My total cycle length has been all over the place since I had my son--50 plus days for the first two cycles and now 32 this cycle. Time to see an RE? Just started trying last month but am 36 and cycles seem problematic.

A 10-day luteal phase is a bit on the edge of OK, but since you've only charted for one cycle, and aren't sure of the length, it's probably too early to be overly concerned. Cycle length, in and of itself, isn't necessarily a problem either. I would keep charting for a couple more cycles before calling an RE. Give yourself about 6 cycles. If things are still all over the place after that, then call a doctor. But at this point, you don't have enough data to know if there's a problem.
