Refreeze?

I took frozen ground meat out to make meatballs. I made the meatballs and partially baked them for 15 minutes. They will finish cooking in sauce. Can I then refreeze half the batch? If so, do they have to be fully cooked or is the half way point (after baking okay?)

My mom's decidedly unscientific rule was to never refreeze meat. So she would say no. I admit it may be an overly conservative rule.

I think you can re-freeze after fully cooking them.
