Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| Looking for some gift ideas for a 15 month old. Would love to know your toddlers favorite book. |
| My 15 month old loves Boynton books...Barnyard Dance, Pajama Time, etc. They come in gift sets, I've seen them at Barnes and Noble. |
| Okay, I don't have a toddler so you might not care about my opinion, but I love "Trucks Roll!" by George Ella Lyon. I read it to my 5-month old DS, and it's so fun to read. "Dispatcher calls, says Get underway! Chocolate chip cookies have to travel today! ... Trucks Roll!" Sorry, I'm a dork... The illustrations are really bold and colorful. It was done by the guy who designed the Love postal stamp, which I thought was kind of interesting. |
| The only book my 18-month old has been willing to sit through from the beginning to the end is Where the Wild Things Are - and he wants that one several times a night! (But that's a fairly common one, so don't know if you want to go with it or not?) Other favorites are Tip Tip, Dig Dig and Olivia |
| Goodnight Moon, Trashy Town (the only book I know where the trashman is the hero!), I Went Walking, the Babybug series (which aren't really books - they are magazines but DS loves them!), Fat, Fat Calico Cat, Mama's Coming Home and Pizza Man. |
| THe Boynton Books and Usbourne Touch and Feel series. |
| My 15 mo is big into Corduroy (Corduroy's Party, Corduroy's Day, etc, etc) |
| We love all the Boynton books, but one of our very favorites is Goodnight Gorilla. Such a cute and clever book. The balloon on every page as one example. |
| Goodnight Gorilla is one of my (15 mo. old) guy's favorites right now. |
|
I have a 22 mo old, and some of our favorites have been
(in addition to the Boynton books and Goodnight Moon): - Dog - How do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight - Time for Bed - Lift the flap books like Animal Hide and Seek |
|
ditto several other suggestions here, esp goodnight moon and that's not my puppy etc.
also brown bear, brown bear and any book with pictures of real live babies |
| I also like the Saxton Freeman/Joost Elffers books, especially "How Are You Peeling." |
| My toddler loves lots of those already mentioned plus Curious George, Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs & Ham, Are You My Mother?, and the Lorax. |
| DD loved interactive books - Peek a Who by Nina Laden, the Animal Kisses books by Barney Saltzberg, the Maisy books with bold colors and flaps where things like Maisy's friends are hiding and Where is Baby's Belly Button by Karen Katz. |
| I second Where is Baby's Belly Button by Karen Katz. My 16 mo old loves to lift the flap and find all the body parts on her own body. She also like a boxed set of books we have also lift the flap by Karen Katz...the only title I can remember right now is "Excuse Me" which is a great book about manners. |
