Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
Three of my best girlfriends are in town this weekend, and I need some restaurant ideas. I live in Alexandria, but would like to take them into the city for a nice (but not too fancy) night... two of them are pregnant, so I feel that good food is a must to make up for the lack of alcohol that we had originally planned (kidding... sorta!)
My go-to places for out of town guests are Zaytinya or Jaleo for tapas (Jaleo is in both Crystal City and downtown).
I went to Ris (near GW) with a group of girlfriends a few months ago. We had a great dinner.
I like Bistrot du Coin and Granville Moore's. I hear great things about Smith Commons, too. If you eat on H St, you can go to Dangerous Pies after and the people watching is good.
I second Ris. Or Cafe LaRuche in G'town if it is nice outside...it's fun to people watch in their outdoor dining area.
I just went to Founding Farmers yesterday for lunch and I thought it was really good. Might be fun for a night out.

Coco sala? too fancy?
I like the Zaytinya and Jaleo recs too. You could do dinner at one Penn Quarter restaurant then go to Coco Sala for dessert. |
I had one of the best meals of my life at Blue Duck Tavern a few months ago.
