I was hoping someone could recommend a boys sandal for a fat-footed 11 month old who is walking. I've been through Nordstroms and the staff seemed clueless. I am also near a Stride Rite, but they were too busy to help me. He seems to be a size 6 or 7 (huge feet) but I am not sure. If you have a favorite walking sandal let me know!
Baby has some shoes from the Gap and Children's Place but he cannot walk in them. Thanks so much!! |

We got these for my older son when he first started to walk 2 years ago. His feet were also wide and I believe a size 6. They lasted him the whole summer and into the fall. We liked them so much we got them again the next summer.
http://www.striderite.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=315&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=222&iSubCat=226&iProductID=315&sColor=14 My younger son is about to walk as well - I might get him the same ones! |
| I saw some sandals at Target. They fit our 12 mo. DD great (easy on, easy off) and all the sizes and colors were stocked. |
We were just at Target. The only pair that looked supportive enough for him to walk in were too big in size 7 and sold out in size 6. Since he is just walking and still wobbly he needs a lot of support. |
| Try the Shoe Train at Cabin John Mall in Potomac. They are specialists and will be able to properly fit your son. If he is a new walker and has wide feet, I would not just get any old pair from Target, etc. |
i second this post. we also like ramer's near ch ch circle. |
| And if you're in NOVA, Bradshaw's on Lee Highway is also a great children's shoe store. If your child isn't ready for shoes, they'll send you away! |
I am the 14:26 poster who bought the Stride Rites. I actually got them at Bradshaws since I live within walking distance of there. I have not been thrilled with their customer service lately, though, and they seem to be out of everything I usually want since then. |
