terra nova test question

Is the terra nova test, which was given to 2nd graders in MD, used to determine Gifted and Talented placement? If not, was there another test given to the 2nd graders (or did the parents have to request special G&T testing)?

Terra Nova testing is seperate from GT testing. The GT testing is the Inview and the Raven. I believe Terra Nova gives the school a close prediction to the 3rd grade MSA scores. If a child does poorly they will know they need extra support before th MSA's. If a child is interesting in a GT magnet that is yet another seperate test that you have to sign up for and is given in January of 3rd grade.

My child's 2nd grade class was given the raven test, which is an iq test, essentially. I assume this was done to identify G&T students, though I wasn't informed about the test in advance, nor was I provided the results. It was given about a week before Terra nova.
