How much breast milk did your EBF (or pumped milk) baby drink in a day?

I keep reading that EBF (or pumped milk) babies don't need to increase the amount of milk they get like formula-fed babies do; that the typical amount a baby between 0 and 6 mos eats is around 24/25 ou per day. Is that right?? My baby is 18 wks old and gets (3) 4 ou btls of BM a day while I'm at work, and I BF him 3 (or 4) times btwn coming home/last feed/early morning feed and morning feed before work. I'm assuming he's getting around 4 ou everytime I BF, but I don't know for sure. He's gaining just fine and seems satisfied after the feedings - but I was just wondering if he'll ever increase his intake.

How much BM did your 6 mo old drink? And do they start to take less BM after 6 mos due to the introduction of solids?

I think every baby is different. My DC was EBF and we definitely increased the amount in each bottle as she got older. By 6 months she was taking 3 6 oz bottles at daycare plus a big morning feed and whatever she took at night from me. She kept up at that rate after starting solids - it didn't drop off until later when she was ready to wean.

My baby was a big pig- he routinely ate 8 oz bottles, did 10 oz several times, and daycare told me he drank a 12 oz once. They were in shock over that one. Perhaps I made skim milk and he wasn't satisfied?

Right now, he is 13 months and was doing about 4 oz recently but due to a suspected growth spurt, is now back to 6 oz. He's always eaten more than the typical Kelly Mom baby though.

I EPed and supplemented, and from about 6 weeks on, my daughter ate 32 ounces a day, give or take.

Wow, that's a lot! My 13-week-old only eats about 25 oz of EBM a day.

I think it depends on the baby; their intake requirements will vary.

My experience is like 13:40's. My son was EBF and between 5-8 months he drank 3-8oz bottles a day at daycare and nursed twice. I am fairly certain he nursed at least 8 oz at a time, which would bring his total to about 40 oz BM per day.

Compared to my friends' kids, this is a ridiculous amount, but its what he wanted/needed and he was right in the middle of the pack in terms of height and weight.

He slowed down around 8 or 9 months, after getting established on solids. His appetite continued to be .... robust, shall we say. The boy likes to eat.

I know, right? Babies really know what they need, I think - she has consistently been in 50th percentile for weight and 90th for height, so I guess she just knows what she needs to keep herself going.

13:40 here. Glad to hear there's another baby who ate a lot! My kid would eat about 32-40 oz a day as well. I exclusively pumped so that's why I know exactly what he was eating. It could be that he was only ever bottle-fed and grew accustomed to this style of feeding, but when I've posted here about his numbers before, people were quite disbelieving and kind of rude about it. That, plus Kelly Mom, made me feel bad like I was overfeeding him. The thing is, he is off the charts for height and only 15% for weight so he's certainly not getting fat from eating that much. Plus, I can literally count on one hand the number of times he's spat up and if he doesn't want his bottle, he will definitely let you know and there's no force feeding him.
