Where should I take my husband out for his birthday? Searching for a romantic restaurant

Which one would you choose: Rasika? (never been there so not sure if it's romantic but heard the food is great), or City Zen? I am also open to other suggestions for great places. Komi is booked, so it's not an option.

I think City Zen is a little more romantic in the "elegant, dark room" way, whereas Rasika is more of a loud, high energy place. Some people like Palena, which is sort of a plush, gilt room (or Restaurant Eve, although I did not think it lived up to the hype).

Old Angler's

How about Obelisk in Dupont? It is a very similar style to Komi.

Thanks PPs, will check obelisk / city zen for availability, will try rasika another time want something more calm romantic than energy romantic. Old angler's is a bit out of the way for us, but will definitely try it someday. Anyone know if there are any wineries that offer dinner / wine tasting?

City Zen is far and above Old Angler's. They don't even compare on food or atmosphere.

Blue Duck Tavern is a huge ripoff and way over-rated. I went for lunch the other day. I had pea soup. It had 2 peas and the waiter came to pour boiled water over the 2 peas. It was $8...I was really shocked but didn't say anything because I was eating with 3 other people and I had never met one of them.

Well - it doesn't matter anyway. My husband came down with a nasty cold so we cancelled our reservations. I can't win.

Op here. We ended up going to kinkead's. It was lovely. The food was great, and we totally enjoyed our evening... Sorry blue duck tavern pp that your outing didn't work out this weekend.

I thought Blue Duck was excellent, if a little more cool/pretentious than I am comfortable with.

I agree Rasika is too crowded/loud to be considered romantic, though the food is very good.

Kinkead's is a great classic.
