Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
Granted, maybe I'm just believing the hype, but I was so excited today when I drove up connecticut avenue on my way back to work from a meeting and saw that the Shake Shack that took over where California Pizza Kitchen was looked like it was almost ready to open. I checked their website when I got to my office and it's opening next Tuesday! I'm from NYC but somehow have never been to any of the shake shacks there. My friends there say that it's all overblown, the burgers aren't that great, the lines are ridiculous, blah blah blah, but still, I can't wait to try it. Anyone else? I'm bummed, I used to work just a block away from there, but now I'm going to have to shlep from CT and florida. I'll justify getting a concrete by the fact that I have to walk all the way back uphill to get to work.

| Okay, I worked a block away from the original in Madison Square Park in NYC and I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone says it is overblown. These are the best burgers and fries I have ever had. I will say that the milkshakes are delicious, but I have probably had better if I really think about it. Still worth getting of course, just not the absolute best in the world. But the burgers/fries really ARE the best in the wrold! |

I like Shake Shack, but of the NYC burger places I think Burger Joint (inside the Parker Meridien) is best.

| Actually I'm more excited to try the Chicago style hot dog than the burgers. |

I love Shake Shack burgers! The only better burgers in the entire world are Habit Burgers in Santa Barbara, CA. Can't wait!!!

| Oooooo....Im going to be downtown next week...I hope they are open. Love me a good burger and fries! |
| Minor point, but Casa Nonna is where the old California Pizza Kitchen used to be. Not sure where you mean. Could it be where Fuddrucker's was? |
If you ever come to VA (Leesburg Outlets, maybe?), you've got to try Windy City Red Hots if you love Chicago-style dogs. That place is awesome! http://www.windycityredhots.com |
Ah, yes, I think that's where it is, not at CPK. But you know, that general area, around 18th/M/Connecticut. |
