i just stopped BCP and have been temp charting and using OPK. It looks like I may be about to ovulate -- anyone out there actually get pregnant their first cycle off birth control pills?
any reason to wait and try next month? |
Doctors generally recommend waiting a few cycles although it isn't clear to me why. Talk to your GYN and start taking prenatal vitamins now. You can take over the counter from the drugstore before you GYN gives you a prescription but it is better to start taking them before you get pregnant. |
Thanks -- my OBGYN said there was nothing wrong with getting pgt first cycle but usually doesn't happen AND easier to try and time it right ifyou wait a cycle or two to see where you are....
I'm taking prenatals and have been so no prob there. I searched the internet and can't find anything to say that you shouldn't get pgt first cycle after stopping the pill... well -- here it goes!! ![]() |
I got pregnant the first cycle after BCP twice. Good luck! |
Have fun!! |
Fun? Yeah, it feels a little overwhelming...
OP here -- We have a DC already - but I had troubles before (2 mc) and I had forgotten all that went in to getting pgt the last time (the charting the opk, the cm checks, etc....). I know I should just let go and have fun but I am a WAY type A so want to be "in control" as much as possible.... plus, i'm just nervous about taking this all on again -- being pregnant again, then actually having another child... worrying about how it will affect my relationship with my DS (and DH!). argh... yes, i should have fun =- thanks for the reminder!!! (and thanks to the PP who did get pgt the first time -- so it is possbile!) |
Well, the great thing about charting is that you don't have to have sex every other night for 30 days, so it will be easier to make it fun! |
I tried right after getting of BCP (on for 20 years). I had heard that you are actually more fertile right after stopping the pill - don't know if this is true. I got pregnant during my second cycle. However, my first cycle was 47 days long so this made it difficult to pinpoint the dates since pregnancy dating usually starts on the day of your last period. However, at my 12-week ultrasound they were able to give me a fairly accurate date. I don't see any reason to wait. |
