Need Cold Medicine

My doc's office is closed and for the life of me I cannot remember what is safe to take for congestion. Anyone?

I was told only saline...is there something? That would be wonderful!

I don't think any of the OTC decongestants really help, and the side effects keep me awake.

Try a neti pot--I think they sell them at drugstores as Sinu-Cleanse brand. I did it 2x a day with a cold this week and it ended much more quickly than my last one. It says on the box that it's recommended for pregnancy rhinitis (I may have that totally worded wrong). you pour water in one nostril and it comes out the other, it's weird but everyone I know who has tried it thinks it helps a lot with cold and allergies.

the best is that thai soup with the coconut and chilis in it...

are the lozenges ok? The only ingrdient-active at least is the Menthol.

Vics Vapor Rub, Simply Saline/Saline Solution, Plain Robitussin or generic brand ***just make sure there are no letters after "Robitussin", eucalyptus oil can also help break up congestion, eat small meals, and stay hydrated. That is what my midwives told me when I had really bad congestion/cold around 20 weeks. Oh, I also bought a humidifier and took hot showers in the middle of the night when I had a real difficult time breathing. Good luck and hope you feel better.
