I'm excited, Ds is a little apprehensive about changing schools but found out that a few friends will be coming too. Our school made us feel that AAP is not a competition, but rather a place where our kids can grow to their potential. They will be challenged, but it's more process oriented, not product oriented.
Also note that at the end of 3rd grade, they take 4th grade SOLs--this is a change dorm previous years. But, although it would be helpful to know their number facts/multiplication tables by the end of summer it is not imperative, just helpful. They emphasized that it is their job to take each child from the level they enter 3rd grade (whatever that is) and help them progress from there.
