I'm due in a couple of weeks and am considering hiring a personal trainer afterwards to help me get back into shape. I do plan on BF however, and am already quite large. Right now I'm a 38E. How realistic is it that I will be able to work out while BF?? Thanks. |
Very! That's close to my normal size. Just be sure to invest in a couple of good sports bras. Go to Sylene's or similar for expert fitting. |
I am EBF and working out--it is doable with good sports bras (look for some that open/close in the back rather than go on over the head--I am a 38DD and the over the head bras are really hard to get on and off these days). Also, and this is key for me, I pump right before I go for a run. It's just not comfortable otherwise, and it gives DH an emergency bottle's worth in case DS gets hungry while I'm gone. Enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy and best of luck! |
Depending on how hard core you are with your workout (please be sure to get the doc.'s approval at the 6 week post partem checkout first though!) your breast milk may be a little bitter tasting due to the lactic acid buildup from the workout. That is usually the case, like I said, if it is hard core - marathon training, boot camp-type, anaerobic exercise, etc.
An experienced and competent personal trainer should steer you to a good workout routine that will avoid this or at least pace you. Don't forgot to drink a ton of water - to hyrdrate you, but also to give your body something to work with to make the milk. Good luck. |
