This is true but not surprising. Human beings are evolutionarily hardwired to hoard resources. We can talk a good game but when push comes to shove, we don't want to give up any resource or privilege that gives us or our offspring an advantage. It's hard to overcome thousands of years of evolution.

Especially when those resources will probably be wasted by the people they are redistributed to. As someone posted earlier, turning off the TV and reading costs nothing and would improve poor people's lot fatrmore than busing ever could. Yet that's not happening.

In real life they say the same thing over and over to affordable housing in their area. So I can’t take anything they say seriously. How about this? Instead of the next tear down monstrous rebuild in their neighborhood, we tear down and build a small multi family building. then we move in low income families. How many seconds would it take for the objections to roll in

Yes, that would help. I would reimagine the whole Madison rec center area, to take just one example, as a possible site for low income housing.

Yes, that would help. I would reimagine the whole Madison rec center area, to take just one example, as a possible site for low income housing.

But there's not public transit infrastructure there. And it wouldn't fit enough housing to make building it there worthwhile.

And even if not practical, I would feel better that the North Arlington gets its fair share of affordable housing.
