Agree but they are already at the school. Not much admissions can do now. Pretty sure one of them or their spouse was involved in an incident with a Jewish parent at the school and another incident with peaceful BLM teens last summer as well. Not sure if it’s the same person in both but it is definitely the same circle and club. Not the first time they have written the same negative comments about the Chinese students at STA. Disgraceful. |
I meant that the admissions team should learn from this experience. No more of these bad apples. |
missed a few. here is the final list for the class of 21 for st albans: Harvard (multiple), Yale (multiple), Princeton (multiple), Columbia, Dartmouth (a boatload), Cornell (multiple), Alabama, BC, Chicago (lots), Bates (2), Berkeley, Boston College, Bowdoin (3), Colgate (2), UC Boulder, Conn Coll, Denver, Duke, Emory, Georgetown, Gettysburg, Indiana (2), Lafayette, Maryland, McGill, Miami of Ohio, Michigan (multiple), Northeastern, Northwestern, Notre Dame, NYU, Occidental (2), Pomona, Richmond, RIT, Rollins, St. Andrews (multiple), SMU, Syracuse, Temple, Tulane (multiple), UCLA, UNC, UT, UVA, VMI, Wake (multiple), Wash U (multiple), Wesleyan, West Point, Washington and Lee (multiple), Williams, Wisconsin, Xavier. |
| There are some schools on that list that there never would have been 10 years ago. Is Alabama now considered a good school? Or Rollins? Very wide list of schools. |
Sports. |
I think the list is an excellent one. I also think that the pandemic -- and test optional -- worked against many STA kids. Fewer kids at Chicago, etc. had a trickle down effect and everyone had to cast a wider net. |
Also Alabama offers really good merit aid, so families without lots of money do choose it. |
The happiest kids we know are at large southern schools like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, and South Carolina. It may at first be a let down for the kid (read mom and dad) but after actually experiencing these places it becomes clear that the prior obsession with higher ranked schools and SLACS was so misplaced. |
Are you telling us that you would have your son turn down a full four year scholarship so that you can spend over $60,000 a year for his education at a school you deem better? |
I am not the pp you are replying to and I also think Alabama is a fine school and I understand the appeal. I don’t think you realize the amount of money many people in DC have and that for them they have trusts and whatnot for education and $60k a year is nothing. Even without a trust when you make $1million plus a year that is nothing so for them absolutely they would pay full pay plus large donations to get their kid into a college they deem better. |
It’s the big 3. Money is no object |
This list is not accurate. There was only one headed to Princeton for the class of 2021. A marked and embarrassing decline from past years. |
