I wish I made enough to meet OPs definition of middle class. My daughter and I get by on about $40K a year. I worked 2, and on occasion 3 jobs for majority of the last couple of years to be able to do it.

Those with the 200k+ income who swear they're living frugally, shopping at Loehmann's etc... I would LOVE to see a breakdown of your monthly budget. I bet I could find some places to help you cut corners!

I own my condo on Capitol Hill and live a great life on under 70k gross HHI (single income).

Give me a shot at your budget, I promise I can free up some extra money so you don't feel so tightly squeezed.

I make $195K of the $400 K.

It's 75% of my personal income, not the HHI, that we pay in taxes. In other words, I'm working to pay taxes.
