Any rumors on new curriculum vendor finalists?

It was only open til Dec. 9. You can respond on this general one, but who knows what review it's getting. (I submitted comments months ago and never got a response.)

I get that the survey was only open until Dec 9th, but it seems like the finalist presentations should be posted until they make a decision. That would allow people to at least review them. They were only posted for a very short period of time.

I agree that it was a very short period of time (I didn't get a chance to comment either.) But I guess it's a perfunctory consultation not a real one. Which is too bad, because this is the main decision point and the expert PP upthread is raising a lot of concerns about the ELA options shortlisted.

Does anyone have a list of the elementary math finalists? I’d like to look them up even though MCPS has taken the presentations down. Thanks.

I tried to view and it said I didn't have access. I requested access, tried again, but still couldn't access. And then a few days later, I forgot...

It really was pathetic how short a period people had to review the presentations and comment. When the Feds put something out for notice and comment, you get at least 30 days. They couldn't even pretend to actually be interested in what people have to say.

It's because it was decided way before any of this which is just for show. You know it's going to Discovery Ed.

I work in MCPS and this is how principals are chosen too. Parents can kill someone's chances if they go berserk campaigning against a candidate, but generally speaking that person probably wasn't the top contender anyway. It's all predetermined. I feel bad for the poor people who think they have a chance and get subjected to the whole dog and pony show. I also feel bad for the parents who devote their time to a rigged process. They sign a non-disclosure so they can't even complain afterward.

I thought the comment period was going to be around 30 days. Then I went back and looked and it had closed. It was a really short period of time for parental comments. It’s sad too that MCPS values parental input so little given that they’ve dragged this process out for a year.

Shortly after the holiday, they'll make an announcement claiming Discovery was so superior despite what happened last year they owed it to the county to make an exception and add them to the list.

The snark and lack of paying attention from parents is ridiculous. Was the window a two week period? Yes!
Were one of the presentations Discovery Ed? No!
Can you search on this thread to see which schools will pilot the new curriculum? Yes!

In short, pay attention and stay on top of MCPS, don’t blame them for putting out the information and you dragging your feet. This thread has been viewed by thousands of people. It literally only took 15-20 mins to review the curriculum and provide feedback.

THIS 100%. It's really astounding. Information on this is not only here but on the MCPS website. You should've received information via email as well. You should've acted on the information given. Don't blame MCPS.

What?! Dicovery. Is. Not. On. The. List. Do you people pay attention or are you just spewing criticism just for fun?
