MoCo Election Results...

But adding more people in more houses/apartment buildings only puts money in the developers pockets (which they then pass along to people like Blair and Floreen) and worsens traffic and brings more kids to already overcrowded schools. We need economic development all right, by getting businesses here, not apartment buildings.

So you want jobs here, but housing elsewhere, and you also don't want more traffic? How are the people who live elsewhere going to get to the jobs that are here?

I don't live in a cookie cutter SFH, but you are correct, MoCo has a long history of over development.

I cannot believe one would argue that 355 hasn't been OVER DEVELOPED in the past ten years. Again, if Silver Spring and Wheaton wants the developers, please take them. Enough is enough over on this side of the county.

Indeed. Probably the people who lived in your area when your neighborhood was built considered your neighborhood to be over development.

I'm not sure why you keep singling me out. My house was built in 1890, on a large lot with surrounding acreage.

It's multiple posters, and nobody is singling you out because we're all anonymous.

But ok, you can argue against suburban development in Montgomery County. Now, how about the very many current residents of Montgomery County who do live in suburban developments and argue against further suburban development?

“I am a candidate for County Executive–unexpectedly, I admit–because it would be a terrible loss for this county to fall into the sort of polarized posturing that has poisoned our national politics. That’s not my way. I want to get things done for all of us,” she said in a prepared statement.

Good grief.

Elrich is a very polarizing figure, even among Democrats. Most either love him or are very concerned about how he would lead the county. Ficker is a joke and doesn't provide a real alternative, especially in such a D county, but there is a lot of room for someone else to step in and be competitive.

She can probably pick up a lot of Blair voters, voters for other D candidates (Krasnow already endorsed her), almost all independents, and likely a bunch of Rs who see a chance to prevent someone who is very liberal from being elected.

"I hate polarized posturing!", postured the candidate, polarizingly.

Blair checking with absentee and provisional voters to see if their votes counted.

Also, noticed the other day that the D primary race for Baltimore County Executive was similarly crazy close to ours. It’s headed to a recount, but the apparent winner, Olszewski, is ahead of Brochin by NINE votes. And Brochin is ahead of the third-largest vote getter, Almond, by less than 1,000 votes.

Does anyone know where to find results by polling place? I can’t find them posted online.

I know it gets done for the general election. Not sure about primaries. however, the results will be certified tomorrow, so maybe the results by precinct will be posted shortly thereafter.

Dear lord no. Might as well hire a developer to take over as county executive. That’s the same as voting for Nancy Floreen.

Why are developers seen as so terrible in MoCo? I live in Wheaton and we would love some development over here.

They jam pack as many people in one area as possible.
Schools, roads, traffic suffer
They make no effort into fitting into the feel of existing neighborhoods.
Cookie cutter
Zero foresight

Example - remember when Walmart wanted to build on Rockville Pike? They were going to occupy a pretty small strip mall. Zero foresight to how that would make the horrendous traffic and congestion 10x worse. Thankfully the plan wasn't approved.

Go lure them over to Wheaton. The other side of the redline is saturated.

So, when they built your cookie-cutter SFH, did they take into the account the same things you are complaining about? Probably not, which is why it was built in the first place. A majority of the development in MoCo has been apartments and townhomes, most of which have been bought by millennials, something that the County is desperately in need of in order to pay for things such as improved roads, and school construction. It's also debatable as to whether these new developments have contributed to school congestion, which has been correlated more towards demographic changes.

Apartments for milenials in MoCo?

The apartments are filled with illegal aliens who mow lawns, clean houses, or work construction.

The cash they make - often under the table - is then sent out of the county, and even out of the USA to support their families back in Central America. If they file taxes at all, it is only to claim fraudulent defendants and inflate the size of their tax return.

Meanwhile, they flood the schools with FARMS kids and ruin the learning environment for everyone else since the kids are ESOL learners; and the parents (while nice enough) do not volunteer at all - even to support their own kids.

So why is everyone in MoCo voting for those who would expand "sanctuary" policies, keep MS13 in our communities, and abolish ICE?

Talk about voting against your own interests!
