| It is startingly easy to get recruited to play college lax. Apart from the top 20 D1 programs, the other d1 teams struggle for a full roster of competent players. At the top d3 programs, academics counts as much as lax skills, so a high gpa or sat makes up for basic lax skills. And don't get me started on d2. Can pay tuition and played rec ball...congrats recruit! |

This may have been true 50 years ago, but certainly isn't the case now (and wasn't the case 25 years ago either). The competition for recruiting slots at academically strong D1 and D3 schools (think Ivy and NESCAC) is extremely competitive. |

This is a startlingly incorrect post. It is hard to get recruited for a D1 program. There are about 70 programs. Assume each program has 10 slots to go to admissions, etc. That is room for 700 boys. Then, think about the schools. Many are very fine academic institutions, where most applicants will be denied admissions. Ivys and top public universities, like Michigan and UVA. Kids who are getting recruited and land spots at those schools are a select few. Take even a middling school like Towson. They fill their roster and you can't get recruited there unless you can really play. Now, if you want to get recruited at Cleveland State or Hampton, both of which have D1 teams, that can be a lower bar. I don't think it is productive to try to list lower-tier schools, but there are not not 50 of them playing lacrosse in Division 1. There might be a handful of such schools. |

I watched the Churchill/Urbana game last spring. To call that terrible lacrosse is idiotic. Kennedy vs Wheaton might fit that description. |
