My child’s teacher recently got DUI

No, but usually teacher DUIs make the news. People love to hear about them and comment. If an arrest and a conviction in MD of a MCPS teacher had happened recently, we would have heard about it. OP is lying about that part. Maybe the teacher drinks at school. But she was not recently arrested and convicted of that charge in this state.

OMG PP—just because it didn’t make the news doesn’t mean it didn’t happen or that anyone is lying. Stop being inflammatory for no reason at all.

They do? Over a million people in Montgomery County, no local paper, spotty coverage (at best) of even important local issues -- and teacher DUIs are what gets covered? Not that I'd noticed.

A little off topic but I know of a teacher who was convicted of domestic violence in a civil matter and their partner was able to get a restraining order against them, but because it was civil the teacher said they’re not even obligated to report it to MCPS. Would MCPS care if they knew? Who knows.

We had one staff member who had a TRO against another staff member in the same building and all went on as usual, so I'm guessing not.

Guess y’all didn’t read the articles about the MCPS teacher and counselor who were arrested in DC for intention to distribute pot?

That actually stood out for me because I know a few teachers whose arrests were NOT made public. My guess is that that particular arrest involved drugs which must be reported to MCPS if you’re a teacher. There’s a list of stuff you have to report. Beating the crap out of your partner and being served with a restraining order doesn’t appear to be as clear cut, for instance, and DUIs are not on the “must report” list at all. Though perhaps the system would care if they found out, and certainly if a teacher is drinking on the job. One can hope anyway.
