Y’all make me laugh! |

My god these stereotypes are so outdated.
The only thing that really screams old money is the elite private/boarding schools across generations. Thats the only thing for sure. |
This. I'm sorry but the whole wealth whispers is a lie. Social media tells a different story. |
| Some old money people here are not from America. So, no quaint New England story to share. |
People love to conflate WASP stereotypes with old money. Guess what? There is old Jewish, Italian, Asian American, middle eastern American, Black American etc etc money all over this country. And a lot of WASPs are broke. The only thing that screams old money is a very large inheritance. |
Not old money. |
| Old money buys for "value" when they shop. |
| Weekly manicures with only clear nail polish and short nails. |

Wearing the right clothes for the right activity. Like no riding boots unless you’re riding.
Nothing too costume - like. Think the opposite of Melania in Egypt, in her colonial safari look. These are not necessarily old money, just the opposite of new money (Melania). |

| I find the obsession with "old" money hilarious. Old money is found. New money is earned. I know which of these people I would rather hang out with. |
| The only way to scream old money is to be old money. You either are or you're not. |
| My six year old has a collection of minks and other furs handed down from my mother and aunts. She also has lord knows how many hundreds of thousands of dollars of antique family jewelry earmarked for her. Pays to be the only granddaughter in the generation! |

Not shopping — because you already have what you need. Instead of being obsessed with buying something new or treating a shopping trip as entertainment, just go to the closet or the vault or even your Mom’s closet or your sister’s and get what you need for the event. There’s already something suitable near at hand.
