Well if you're a conservative who abhors the idea of a "living constitution" then "arms" mean arms as of 1789 - so muskets and the like. |
To believe in banning the AR15 is to believe that if farmers had shown up at Lexington and Concord with AR15s, they would have been turned away because their guns would have repelled the British too effectively. |
And "speech" means paper and shouting. |
| Can anyone tell me what it is that makes AR15's so dangerous? What specific feature(s) does it have that sets it apart from other rifles? |
Their massive .223 inch bore size, for one. |
The report that the CDC did under Obama disagrees, and cites several violent crime studies which indicated that defensive use is much more common than criminal use of firearms |
Good one
It isn't any more dangerous than any other semi-auto rifle. It's just a popular rifle and it usually looks "tactical," so it gets a lot of attention from people who know nothing about guns. |
So why do all the hunters say it's the best tool for the job (which is killing)? |
I don't think "all the hunters" say that. Either you're making that up, or the people who call themselves hunters are seriously misrepresenting themselves. The AR is a very versatile platform, able to be customized and adapted to many different roles. But it's still always going to have an upper caliber limit, which will also limit its usefulness as a hunting rifle. It's a great rifle for a lot of things. But it's not the "best" hunting rifle (though maybe for some things). I would, however, say that it's probably one of the best all-around rifles for things like sport shooting and home defense. But even those statements don't mean a whole lot because "best" depends on what it's being used for. |
Not making it up, it's what the hunters say in the videos posted in this link http://time.com/4390506/gun-control-ar-15-semiautomatic-rifles/ Which was posted upthread. |
It’s the velocity and the cavitation. |
The low recoil means you can fire multiple rounds into a target easily. Kinetic energy= 1/2mv^2 muzzle velocity = 3300 feet/sec. compare that to a 9mm at 1100 FPS. Means it can liquefy organs and explode bone. Cavitation damage means it destroys tissue far beyond its path through the body. |
You are clearly not a lawyer. Here is where the definition is used. v)(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon. ``(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of the enactment of this subsection. Maybe hot sauce will make that crow go down easier. |
| So how was that crow? |
I hear Bump Stocks work best with them.. |
