As far as I can tell from a Google search, Satchmo's drugs were pretty much limited to marihuana and laxatives. I don't think his talent derived from either of these.

His mood, perhaps, but mood does not create genius. Lots of musicians took drugs, usually more potent stuff than Armstrong, but the effect on their performances was rarely positive.

Anyway, I tossed the two Armstrongs into the thread as a joking way of saying I thought it had run its course, not to start a discussion of trumpet versus bicycle.
