PTA and Parent Association fees -- poll

Did you pay the school supplies fee before it became a poll tax?

Cheap MFs. Such people are everywhere. I guess that is how they stay rich or well off. They use other people's money.

Yes and happily.

Whoa, I've actually read both versions of the by-laws (and authored neither), and the "nut-job" version is clearly superior as to both style and substance.

Please stop calling this man a nut job. In the three years since my child has attended this school, this man has been very active in the betterment of the school. He does not drop and roll like many of the parents. He gives of his time, whether you like him not, he is far from a nut job.

Is he handsome too? Wow. Maybe he should be king of the world!!

It doesn't bother you that someone else is paying for your child's supplies while you take this moral stand? Why not pay AND complain/argue for a change?

I paid the fee. Paid the fee. Paid. Sigh. All paid up but will not be paying anything in the future to the PA if the "pay to vote" poll tax stays.

It is a PUBLIC school. You are not supposed to pay a penny. PA organizations should raise funds, but not extort them.

idk.

I apologize if I misunderstood you. I don't think the school's handling this well. Maybe some suggestions of better ways to collect supply fees would be useful.

His rigid thinking would put the whole organization at a stand still. I hope people realize that his 11th hour ploys are just a way to rail road his own personal agenda. It might all look fabulous to present these changes, but you need to question why would someone suddenly go against the bylaws that have been in the works for 12 MONTHS?

Not sure who they can work with other than the Yes-Men out there. Now this statement is guaranteed to gather other yes-men patrolling here to defend how great they are. Just wait...

The school admin needs a certain type of coddling and admiration, with which they can possibly be in the room with a slight criticism. Possibly.

ITA. And the constant reminder that they've been working on the by-laws for the past 12 months doesn't help. The attitude is 'take it' (we'll stuff it down your throats, if necessary) and although they asked for input, the only input welcome is "great job! Thanks for hard work."

To those saying you won't pay the fee on principle, I hope you don't really mean it. If you dislike the PA policy (which I do) you can still pay it directly the school.

Tides are changing- prediction: dues don't stand.

I would suggest $50 dues like some other schools and then let the school manage a supply fee "donation". There is no way dues will go away completely.
