Kimmell, cancelled in September, at the request of the president for remarks related to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

However, in reality, the remarks weren’t “about Charlie Kirk,” they were about how this administration is using Kirk’s death as an excuse to shut down critics … and the administration responded by proving Kimmel completely correct.

He said the murderer (Tyler) was MAGA.

So did the kid's grandmother.

His mother said he wasn’t. I’m sure there was a lot about him Grandma didn’t know

What does this matter for the issue at hand? Kimmel has a 1st Amendment right. A federal bureaucrat threatened his employer today unless ABC removed him from the air.

Big Government on steroids.

Nobody silenced his speech rights. He remains free to say whatever he wants to say.

ABC is a broadcast network, and as such it is rightfully regulated by the FCC. The comment dealt with whether ABC’s FCC licenses were in danger of being revoked by Kimmel allegedly engaging in misinformation.

Just as Fox News (a cable network, different regime) faced sanction over its speech in the Dominion lawsuit, ABC could face sanctions vis-a-vis its broadcast license if it is engaging in misinformation.

It seemed like one of the major ABC local station partners first pulled Kimmel off the air by choosing to preempt the national syndication in its markets and then ABC followed suit nationwide.

His ratings were pretty weak, and my guess is that this is really business driven but ABC now has the cover to cancel his show.

It looks like many have learned from democrats.

I'm loving the schadenfreude!

Please give actual example of the federal government of a Dem admin threatening to pull FCC licenses from any station, even all the RWNJ stations that tell nothing but a stream of lies, lies, lies. You cant.

Read up on the Twitter files. Matt Taibbi (noted conservative!) did wonderful reporting. Different fact pattern, but family with this case.

Also, see Democrat intelligence community officials spreading disinformation about the Hunter Biden laptop to control the news narrative.

Not tired of defiling the Constitution?

That’s a troll. Anyone with 2 brain cells can see this is completely authoritarian and actually very much what Kirk claimed to be against. They are using him to shut down people’s freedom of speech. How can anyone who is a big Kirk fan be ok with it?

Kirk's death was the best thing that could have happened to trump because it took Epstein off page one!

Convenient isn't it?

Makes you wonder and I would not put anything past MAGAS and trump!

Oh really? Provide me an example of a democratic governance official publicly threatening a company with retaliation if they don’t fire a specific employee for his speech. I’ll wait right here.

DP. Seriously?? There are so many examples of this that it would probably take all night to compile them. Here are a few of the greatest hits thought:

The Biden White House and the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Disease harassed and threatened Meta (FB) employees into censoring content critical of Biden’s COVID-19 policies. We ALL know this.

Biden Senior Advisor for the COVID-19 Response Andy Slavitt pressured Amazon to ban books critical of the government’s position on vaccination and the COVID-19 pandemic. We ALL know this.

The Biden Department of Justice got an activist judge to ban Big Tech platform X and its owner Elon Musk from notifying users of the government’s surveillance. We ALL know this.

Oh, and my personal favorite: Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas’s attempt to create a ministry of truth, named the “Disinformation Governance Board” which would police online speech. Remember that one?

The dystopian censoring coming the government *started* under Biden's administration. Other posters are right: you reap what you sow. *shrug*

It is not the same. Not even f’ing close.

What you call “suppressing the truth” and “suppressing right wing voices” was in truth PROTECTING AMERICANS FROM LIES AND PROPAGANDA that could have killed them and lead to millions of deaths and long term negative health consequences.

MAGA has serious issues with truth-avoidance and lying. The federal government has a duty to protect the American public from lies and disinformation from dangerous radical right wing conspiracies and fake medical “advice”

People were cancelled and lost their jobs because they said the Lab Leak theory was acceptable and that you could gain immunity after contracting Covid, like all other viruses in recorded history.

People were told the J&J vaccine was totally safe and to shut up and take it and it’s not even on the shelves anymore because of its side effects.

We all don’t forget easily. Stop gaslighting us.

How is this any different from the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES claiming the shooter was a product of the "radical left" before a suspect was even apprehended?

Truth is, we don't know all this guy's motivation and anyone who thinks assassination is the way to go is a NUTTER who doesn't align with regular people of either party.

The smear campaign against the left by the Trump administration is the real outrage her. Period.

The only difference is Trump and republicans are in control. The constitution is gone and the horrors of Nazi German are embraced by maga.

It's disgusting and a lie to compare Republicans to Nazis who rounded up, tattoed, and gassed MILLIONS of Jews, with the remaining who survived the concentration camps emerging as basically starved skeletons.

Did the government cancel people? Please show where.
Did the federal government force people to get vaccinated (other than their own employees or people in their employ?) No.
Just admit it, this is HUGE government over-reach, you know, the whole "don't tread on me" thing, and a raping of the First Amendment.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said on Monday.

Nope, this is utter disinformation and twisting of the truth, in fact these days these are typical Republican lies.

The FCC does NOT REGULATE CONTENT. Never has until present day under the Trump Administration. Fox faced zero, nada, No sanctions or threat of sanctions from the FCC under the Biden Administration. Fox had to pay millions to Dominion by Court Order because it knowingly broadcast false and defamatory statements denying the legitimacy of the 2020 election and the defaming Dominion voting Machines. There was no attempt by Biden or any Democratic Administration to sanction any FCC broadcast licensee or cable network or force them to fire an on air personality. Never happened until under the Trump Administration and it’s clearly corrupt and unconstitutional.

FCC absolutely regulates content. That is the whole point of their decency standards applicable to over the air broadcasters.

If it is corrupt and unconstitutional then ABC is free to sue. But all actions taken by ABC and local affiliates appear to be voluntary. Efforts of similar import by Democrats with regard to social media were cleared by courts because the self-censorship was voluntary by the social-media companies.

The PP is living in a fact-free fantasy land.

"The court found that Biden Administration officials coerced and threatened the social media companies to take down content."

That is what the Nazi's did in 1939-1944. What did the Nazi's do from 1933 to 1938 and come back to us and tell us there are not stark parallels.

and?

his point was that MAGA was doing everything they could to point fingers away from someone who grew up in a rural, white, Morman gun culture with self-professed MAGA parents. His grandmother called him a MAGA. That is what was known when he made the statement.
