If Russia wants to the control the worlds oil or their neighbors oil, how is that any of my business and why should my tax dollars go toward fighting that? I heard this before about Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait. Another thing I don’t know why I should care about as an American. We do the same thing. Trump is the only president I’ve ever heard acknowledge this.

My party was once the anti Cold War party but I no longer recognize the Democrat Party. We have learned nothing from history .

I remember not very long ago Sarah Palin was famously mocked for saying she can see Russia from
Her house and McCain and Romney are mocked for being paranoid about Russia . They actually called Putin’s ambitions correctly and it was the arrogant left including Obama and Hillary that scoffed and laughed.

Now?? Tides have changed but what I have realized is that the blind spots and myopia of the left is a continuous pattern. They are arrogantly blind. We were told Hillary was absolutely going to win , Trump was absolutely racist and wrong that COVID was definitely not an intentional lab leak from China ir that open borders would overpopulate cities and resources and increase drugs and rapists. We were told Republicans were wrong about trans wanting the children but now they read at kindergartens and at pride marches they openly say they want the kids . We were told Republicans were wrong about crime against women or children increasing with gender free bathrooms and public pools

If Russia wants to the control the worlds oil or their neighbors oil, how is that any of my business
--so. . . you don't drive, you live off the grid and get all your power from wind and sun so fossil fuels have no bearing on your life at all? If natural gas prices zoom up because Russia is cutting off supplies and US companies are shipping liquified natural gas to Europe that won't affect you?

I heard this before about Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait.
-A sort of random thing. Apparently Saddam genuinely believed we didn't care what he did in Kuwait, and when he did it a wealthy Kuwaiti lobby got very busy very very fast. Just so you know.

We were told Hillary was absolutely going to win
--apparently (according to Michael Cohen anyway) Trump thought that too. I do think most of us (the majority of the population who DID vote for Hilary) could not fathom there would be enough people to fall for Trump bs to bring him the electoral college. If you do live in the DMV or any other high-population area, realize that your vote counts way way less than that of a farmer in North Dakota.

Trump was absolutely racist
--he does have quite a history of racism before he became president, including being aghast at the idea that the first Apprentice winner (based on the advisors who actually monitored the contestants' efforts) should be the black dude. I used to work with a Latino guy from New Jersey who worked in Trump's casino, who confirmed that Trump preferred that the POC employers were as invisible as possible. And there were the housing discrimination issues years ago in NY. And his notion that for money matters you always want a Jew. Oh, and of course immigrants are taking jobs from black folk, don't forget that.

COVID was definitely not an intentional lab leak from China
--well, if you talk to any scientist, it really did NOT come from a lab, intentionally or not (why would China want to lock down all its own people? and tank its own exports of electronics for months?)

open borders would overpopulate cities and resources and increase drugs and rapists
Cato Institute (as far from a left wing organization as you can get) reported in November:

According to new data published last month, the Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed a higher percentage of arrested border crossers in its first two years than the Trump DHS did over its last two years. Moreover, migrants were more likely to be released after a border arrest under President Trump than under President Biden.
In absolute terms, the Biden DHS is removing 3.5 times as many people per month as the Trump DHS did. These figures are important for understanding how each administration has carried out border enforcement.

Biden has issued more executive orders related to immigration than Trump did.

Most importantly, Trump derailed the immigration bill backed by a GOP senator from the southwest.

trans wanting the children but now they read at kindergartens and at pride marches they openly say they want the kids .
--what the hell are you smoking? Kids think men in drag are hilarious. Ever watch Mrs. Doubtfire? No, they are not trying to "take your kids." However, let me introduce you to longtime Republican state senator Ray Holmberg from ND (44 years in the state senate). This guy recently pled guilty to spending taxpayer money to travel to Prague repeatedly to have sex with underage boys. He has a plea hearing coming up for federal child porn possession charges. This guy also had a career as, guess what, a middle school counselor, teacher, "child find" coordinator ("child find" has to do with schools' obligations to identify kids who require special ed services). Believe me, this guy has never marched in a Pride parade, and in the legislature he spoke at length to support school library book bans (which have cost school districts a great deal of money because they have to review all their books to see what might be subject to the ban), ban on gender-affirming care, one of the nation's strictest laws against abortion--get the idea?

crime against women or children increasing with gender free bathrooms and public pools
--this has been studied plenty, there is no evidence that trans-inclusive policies are associated with crimes involving bathrooms or locker rooms. Of course, there are creeps who drill holes in bathroom walls to instead cameras, but that has nothing to do with trans issues, same creeps have done that shit for decades.

I sort of have a feeling you lack critical thinking skills or don't actually read or watch actual news.

I think you’re the one that lacks critical thinking skills or doesn’t watch actual news.

How is a hot war with Russia any help for oil prices?

Russia/Putin was able to become rich in the first place thanks to the Iraq War and the subsequent energy/oil price hike in 2008 which was all something Biden and the Bush administration supporters . That Iraq War was a God send for Putin and Russia and for Iran. We strengthened our enemies with war.

As long as Trump remains anti war and pro children and pro women (which erasing two gender standard throughout history ) , he will get my vote .

I don’t think spending my tax dollars on lawbreakers/freeloading border trespassers , Ukraine war where his son happens to be an energy and gas consultant , and supporting trans reading to school kids while things like standardized tests and math are now considered racist are great ideas.

The left lacks brilliant ideas and inspiring leaders . Pains me to say it as a 2x Clinton and Obama voter. The Democrats have managed to gone wayyy too far left domestically and wayyy too far right with foreign policy for my taste . I will have to hold my nose and vote for Trump this year the way I held my nose and voted for Hillary in 2016

Lots of Democrats have exited out to vote for Trump or Jill Stein because they share the views I mentioned about not wanting the world to blow up with a showdown with Putin.

We spent 60+ years on a Cold War for nothing. Why can’t we mind our business?

A bridge in Baltimore Just collapsed within seconds after a cargo ship bumped into it , seniors have to split pills in half and buy less food , grocery bills and the price of food is far more expensive than it was 4 years ago , housing is also high but you want us to focus on if Putin takes Ukrainian oil or Iran funds Hamas? Who cares? Why should the average American pay for these things with tax dollars and fund lawbreakers to come over here and give them free housing, debit cards, and free food? Make it make sense. I thought Biden is the President of the US not of Ukraine. Why is he minimizing the increased price of groceries and inflation? It’s affecting everyone’s wallet.

These horrible invasions and such will still be done by these leaders regardless of us saying they’re bad and using deterrence . Trump is a realist and understands this . We can’t parent the world when we have huge problems here we need to pay attention too

Trump is weak. Agreeing to let any foreign dictator do as he pleases is not strength, it’s weakness, and it’s not what America is about.

The strength of the United States which allows you to have the extraordinarily high standard of living you enjoy is because the United States is a global hegemon. With that hegemony comes certain responsibilities. That way the world runs the way we want it to. Russia and China don’t like it.

Being isolationist doesn’t mean the problems go away, it means you don’t get a voice in the outcome. Things happen to you and you don’t make things happen. The Republican Party used to understand that.

To the original point of Trump wanting to use military tribunals (I'm not interested in reading 12 pages of random hot takes), military tribunals rarely apply to civilians. A military tribunal would generally only be valid in certain specific situations, such as 1. a US civilian engaging in hostilities against the US military, 2. civilian DoD employees during wartime, or 3. martial law is imposed.

The third one raises the deeper concerns, that Trump may be having conversations with his inner circle about imposing martial law and completely circumventing many of the checks and balances we have.

Exactly. "Putin can do whatever the hell he wants" - Donald J. Trump, Weakling-In-Chief.
