I don't give an F about Angelina Jolie. I find her extremely distasteful and she probably is crazy. These types of comments are too often said about any woman who speaks up against a man, and that's what I find objectionable.

I'm sure the vast majority of Hollywood stars of either gender have serious issues and are jerks. Including Brad Pitt, even if he happens to be one's celebrity crush.

You are ignoring the fact that she aggressively discredited him, made reprehensible charges, alienated him from his children, and painted him to be som viscous drunk abuser, which the public gobbled up.

The PP's point was that he can be guilty of exactly what she claims even if she is also mentally unstable. In that case, he is the one who discredited himself, acted reprehensibly, alienated himself from his children, and behaved as a vicious drunk abuser.

I aggressively DO credit my abuser- as well . He WAS a vicious drunk abuser/ like Pitt was.

She continues to talk about it because it’s true and it happened to her and people like you want to infer she deserved it.

The inference you are referring to is that is that she was so nutty that she drove him to drink and drove him to fight with her. By the accounts of their relationship and marriage, that seems reasonably accurate. They fought a lot over the children's upbringing, which was very unusual. By the time of the airplane fight, he was totally blocked out and mostly checked out.

Abuse is wrong - but as parents, many of us sympathized with him because she was so controlling and so strange in her extreme parenting. Those poor kids.

That's not what they said at all. Brad's drinking was because of his dependency issues that started before the relationship

Yeah, she didn't cause him to start drinking - but she did raise their children in an extreme way and iced him out, long before the separation. From the very beginning, TBH.

What are you talking about she raised the kids in an extreme way? What are you talking about she iced him out? Protecting your kids from a stoner and drunk is not icing him out - it's protecting your kids. And to kick him out after he puts hands on those kids is admirable, period.

It is more than a little sickening to see all the apologists for Pitt, who is a chronic stoner and drunk who alienated himself from his kids. If he had put his kids and marriage ahead of drink and drugs, they'd still be married today and his reputation wouldn't be what it is.

It's already been established he is sober now. Why lie or pretend his reputation is in shambles?

Matthew Perry was sober when he died too. Except it turned out he wasn't, he lied about his sobriety like very many addicts do. Pitt has publicly acknowledged being drunk or stoned every day since college in interviews where he claimed he was working on his sobriety. Given the statistics on relapse and total recovery, I doubt very much Pitt is a fully recovered addict and has been fully sober for years as his PR people keep feeding to the press.

Matthew Perry claimed to be sober but he looked terrible (physically) in the years before he died and he was behaving erratically. Whenever Ben Affleck has fallen off the wagon he has also looked terrible. I have no idea whether Brad Pitt is sober or not, but based on his physical appearance I don't think he could look as fit and healthy as he does at age 60 if he was drinking. The body is not as forgiving at 60 as it is at age 30, even if you're Brad Pitt.

And that is really what it's all about. You like Pitt based on his physical appearance so he can do no wrong.

Jolie seems like a pretty good mom to me. Her kids seem nice and stay out of trouble. Not typical rich kid influencer types. Not surprising the older two boys haven’t launched yet. Very unconventional upbringings, plus the oldest one started at a college in Korea during covid. Not at all shocking it didn’t work out when he had to come home and try to do classes virtually. I’m pretty sure the middle boy has a learning disability and was never college bound (there were special needs professionals among the custody evaluators). The oldest girl is in her second year of college, great. We’ll see about the youngest three, but they all seem to be doing okay all things considered. She’s obviously indulgent—let’s fund a Broadway play so my kid can intern on it!—but nevertheless the kids don’t come across as spoiled brats.

Was she right to minimize Pitt’s presence in their lives? I have no idea, and neither do you. But he never seemed to do much heavy lifting where they were concerned, and his addiction/abuse happened at very tough ages for the kids. Especially the older ones. He’s always seemed to skate along, mostly doing whatever he wanted. His priorities seem to be work plus hanging out with his art bros and young gf these days. Even though I think he had the right idea about their schooling and stability, did he really ever put the kids first? She seems to have, at least in recent years.

I think she will keep at this until it bankrupts her. I've seen this in "average people" divorces too, where the legal battle becomes their whole focus in life and maybe a way to stay connected. Eventually one will give in but it can take years to move on.

He is also fighting but I think she seems to be pursuing it more, like attempting to sue the FBI.

After a while it becomes tiresome to everyone around them. It's got to be affecting her kids.
