Tons of people don’t tip Dashers or Shoppers

UMC people reflect the the useless blobs depicted in WALL-E more and more.

Can’t shop for ourselves anymore. Can’t even pick up the food we order for takeout anymore.

And then we complain about it.

Pathetic.

If they paid $20 an hour, I would take an hour to pick out your tylenol at cvs and deliver to you while I'm dragging a kid I'm babysitting along. Little common sense, please.

Then don’t deliver. Problem solved.

This makes practically no difference, in my experience.

Truth is, many of these delivery services are just horrible business models.

It honestly makes zero difference in a big city. I’ve ordered 100+ times and never left a tip. Got my order last night in 35 mins. Maybe in a small town they can have imaginary lists of people who don’t tip, but not in a big city.

I really don’t understand this. Door dashers know people don’t tip. Why would you choose this line of work and then complain? If you want a guaranteed tipping job, go be a waiter.

You do you and justify being a cheapskate. I promise I live in a big city and these lists are not imaginary. There are also a lot of delivery drivers coming and going but if it lets you sleep at night, you go.

Because it is an off topic group. There are thousands of jobs where people complain here about. This forum does allow people to vent. I’m sure your job is all rainbows and unicorn farts. Guess what else? Waiters sure have people who don’t tip!

Tipped employees are those who earn $2.13 per hour, where tips are used to get then to the federal minimum wage. If you are making $15 per hour, you should not be expecting tips, even if some people do tip.

All you are saying that you are terrible at both of your jobs. Does your employer know you are moonlighting with their child?

Good for you?

I say good for the PP. Having someone do your grocery shopping each week amounts to either laziness, entitlement, or a mix of both.

OK, so my elderly, disabled parents-who tip well-are lazy and entitled. Not unable to physically get around the store, or needing to eat ever...

Why aren't you grocery shopping for your elderly disabled parents? Most elderly disabled people have fixed incomes and having food delivered is a huge dent in their monthly expenses.

Shame on you!

That $15 an hour includes tips!

Plenty of food delivery drivers (Instacart etc) are doing it with their kids in tow. You’d have to be awfully sheltered to think that someone delivering Instacart has an unlimited childcare budget.

No it doesn’t. In California waiters make $16hr+ before tips. Gtfo with your 25% tip screen. No.

I don’t understand the door dashers who pick up the jobs that tell you $0 tip and then complain about $0 tip. I mean they told you in advance? You chose to deliver their order. Isn’t that on you?

Why has this discussion been commandeered by a few Californians? In the vast majority of the US, servers and similar are not guaranteed a $15 per hour base wage. Californians, tip or don’t tip in CA, but elsewhere please recognize that tipped employees rely heavily on tips and act accordingly.
