Halftime Show

Eminem did not get fat and he is aging well. He still looks angry though. But yeah, Snoop looked the best and has the best personality.

I liked it. I didn’t know the music because I’m more of a punk rocker, and I enjoyed it.

Mary J was the best and most interesting. Dr Dre had best choreography.

We know.

His arrogance at requiring songs he produced resulted in a less exciting show.

It was an ode to Dre and his contributions to music, he literally put LA on the hip hop map and produced/ discovered some of the biggest names in music. It was a love story to LA and to the man and his music. He produced Eminem, 50 and MJBs biggest hits (those two songs aren’t my faves either but they were her biggest hits). He also discovered Kendrick Lamar, Em and 50.

Thank you. The whole performance was about LA culture because the Super Bowl was set in LA. Crazy how people don’t know music history.

Same. 46 yo white lady here who definitely prefers alt rock to rap and hip hop. But those songs took me back to college, especially Dre and Snoop! I felt like the transitions were so quick between songs, and there were so many performers, that I felt shortchanged at the end.

Would’ve liked to have heard at least a couple lines from Nothin But a G Thing, and another Eminem song, too.

Eminem took a knee during the show.

Interesting. I thought he did it in deference to Dre.

I did know who all the performers were although I'm not super knowledgable about hip hop. But I haven't been sleeping the last 35 years either lol.

Ha this is such a great comment! I felt a lot of nostalgia but it's cool that it was such a good show that anybody could appreciate it.

Same. 50+ and I was not sure how this would turn out, but I feel like it showcased hip hop in a way that was accessible and entertaining. I enjoy a lot of these songs, but I confess I don't always understand what Snoop is saying.

I totally missed the "fat cheerleaders" so I'll have to look that up.

I feel like the audio in these giant arenas is always a bit rough on singers. Maybe it’s the echo in the stadium? Not sure.

Was MJB singing live?

Yes. The chorus was a backing track, but she was doing her own vocals. She was really huffing & puffing during the dance number and not getting out too many lyrics. Once she stopped dancing, it took a minute for her to catch her breath but she sounded great.

I loved it. I loved the set and the impalas! I loved the aerial map of LA. Loved the music but wish it was double the time.

You gotta give it to Snoop. He started the day hosting Puppy Bowl with Martha Stewart and ended it with the Halftime Show performing alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J Blige, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar. My teens had no idea he has been around since the early 90s. He sure knows how to keep himself relevant and reinvent himself.

Mary J has a million other songs she could have picked.

Maybe it was the song, but she sounded pretty bad. That drop to the end wasn't a good ideal either, or the prison jumpsuits. Not a good look for black culture! As usual liberal media is giving it praises while many are saying the opposite. Not the worst halftime, but it was up there with "tacky" which is no surprise with the NFL. There were some good commercials this year.

This half time show wasn’t for you. It was for black culture.

Beyoncé did a much better job than these grandpas.

Because Beyonce actually has talent unlike the poor rhyming rappers. Mary J didn't sound good either.

I saw him 3 years ago in concert and he was phenomenal. He is so so so good live.

WTF was with those outfits?

That and the skany ho outfits in the Fiddy Cent song. Not a great representation of black culture

Hip hop and rap seldom is. We about died when the prison jumpsuits came out....that was the talk of the town and reviewers comments on social media.

I love 50 cent and have no issue with his weight gain but it was funny to see him acting like he was in da club and pulling hot women the same way he did when he had a six pack. "I'm into having sex I'm not into making love." You sure about that? With that dad bod?
