More prestigious... LMAO.... Parents like this kill me. Oh and the playground will matter too. Get a grip. |
| Can anyone make a hypothetical comparison between the 4th through 6th experience at NCS and NPS? |
I’m sure NCS is more rigorous. Also, at NCS the dynamic will be different because 4th-6th are the younger grades. NPS holds on to childhood and your kid will be the oldest at the school in 4th-6th. |
Long story short, daughter has a friend at other school and I often hear stuff when driving them places. Anecdotally, NCS seems to have more assessments and homework. Also offers French and maybe another language (NPS only Spanish). NPS has school sports teams for 5-6th, NCS sports begin in 7th. Curriculum-wise, seems like they were studying similar things (decimals at the similar times in Math, for example). Both girls seem pretty happy. NCS girl seems more worldly/mature but hesitate to make assumptions. Guessing that is more child-specific and not applicable to all girls. |
Yes ncs is much more rigorous and lower school is great at ncs. Definitely would make the move then. |
It is more prestigious sorry. It’s true. |
Aren't both the counselors part time? |
BVR's Guidance Director has a PhD in counseling and is full-time. She is terrific, and has held many roles at the school in the past (outplacement director, interim head of school over a decade ago, presently interim associate head of school). She hosts lunches for kids who need personal time with her in a relaxed setting, meets one on one with others, counsels parents, and just led a lecture for parents on anxiety and young children. She is highly respected in the community and has had two children go through the school herself. I don't think BVR needs two counselors and she fills the role well. |
It is but who cares is my point if it’s not a fit for your kid. |
Did OP ask about prestigious? |
4 days/week part time. always a counselor on site |
Are you talking about a homeroom teacher? Or no? |
In case Johnny hits Joey and a crisis ensues? |
yes, each year in 4th grade NPS gets a few kids from BVR that didn't get in to NCS or St. Albans |
Current NPS family. Yes, BVR is more prestigious and has a much more expensive, large playground. Not sure if that's a statement of fact or a selling point. I guess it depends on your priority list
