Did your teen go to "Fearless" spring break party or is going to the School is Almost Out Party?

There was a party a few weeks ago called the "Fearless -Spring Break Party." It is a party for high schoolers. I'm trying to decide if I should let my 14 1/2 year old DS go to the one this weekend. There were several hundred kids there and probably no chaperones - - maybe a few bouncers and security. Just wondered if anyone's kids went and what they thought? Also, even if your DC didn't go, what do you think about these potential issues - - no chaperones, 400-800 teenagers in one place, possible fights, possible drugs/alcohol, and lots of "freak" dancing?

Seriously? What part of that sounds like a good idea? At 14.5 he should be socializing with friends in his grade.

At my DCs school this will be a very quiet weekend because it is in the middle of AP tests and most of the kids have at least one if not several. So if the smart kids are busy - who does that leave?

Do freshmen take AP classes at your dc's school?

Yes. AP Government. The test is on Tuesday.

Um, grow a backbone and tell your kid no. Seriously, why would you even consider this?

Where is this? I'm trying to prepare myself in case my DD brings it up.

My kids are pretty young so I have no idea what "freak" dancing is, but I am old and went to unchaperoned parties of this size at that age way back in the late 70s and it was never a good idea for all the other reasons you listed and more.

I have to agree...

400-800 teenagers? Really? Does that even make sense to you? What venue is this going to be at that it is holding such a crowd?

isn't freak dancing just vertical dry humping?
Anonymous
Yes, it is like a vertical lap dance. Any other parents out there with teens that are disturbed about the freak dancing? Also, they seem to do this with people they don't know (as well as those they do).

Where do these parties take place?

I am a parent and I was very concerned of my child going to the party. I came and looked at the place a few days before and the owner was a very nice man. Still being a little concerned I dropped my daughter off and decided to go in (she hated me for it). I was very impressed once I arrived. They had police presence there, and security (very formal contacted company) was patting down the kids. Everything was very professional in my eyes. My daughter ran in the "big room" with her friends and I than asked the owner if I could look around inside the dance room. A security guy walked me around and when I was there it seemed like all the girls were dancing with their girlfriends. Of course I did see a few couples kissing and what not. I decided it was safe and left.

I understand your precaution and it's what all of us parents should do. My daughter is already talking about the next party at the end of May. I recommend if you are concerned to call and speak with the owner. Very nice guy.

I let my 2 daughters go after I checked out the facility and found out all the info I could, they have a MC police officer the whole entire time, and at least 10 security personal with the kids at all times, the kids were also not allowed to bring anything in and were screeNed at the door. They were also not allowed out once they were in the facility. So would I let them go back yes!!! Better here then at a frieNds house where alcohol is involved!!!!
