I sent a polite email to Margaret requesting the waitlist status as it is our top choice school and have yet to receive a reply - it has been 2 weeks now. I am kind of getting the idea that this is how they normally treat applicant parents and I find this so disappointing as I was so impressed with the school when we toured.
Can anyone tell me if they have had a similar experience at Beauvoir? If this is the norm, we are definitely not going to reapply next year. I would never be happy spending 30k+ a year at a school who chooses to ignore my polite emails. Thanks in advance. |
| Wait another week or so. It's the end of the school year and things are crazy. |

There is no excuse for her not to get back to you in two week's time.
I would be furious. I am so sorry as I know how anxious you must be. |

I have emailed Maragret in the past during this time of year and had the same wait time. She did eventually get back in touch with me and explained that the long response time was a result of end of the year activities. Also consider calling her directly or call Carole or Corrine they usually are able to provide great answers.
On another note we were waitlisted last year; when we called to inquire about the waitlist we were told that things were finalized for the year and check after July 1 which is the binding date. Just a thought. If you look under employee information you can get direct numbers for admissions personnel. |
| We came off the Beauvoir wait list several years ago. We didn't make one call or send one email. We figured it was an uphill battle, and frankly were settling on our Plan B when we got the call in late Spring. I cannot say for sure, but if I were Margaret or anyone else in the AD's office, I'm not so sure I would be rushing to get back to someone with what is essentially bad news. I think (but again I cannot say for sure), that if it's much past March, the chances are slim to none that there will be any movement on the wait list (which is probably the one thing they should be telling you, if true). |

We had a similar experience as OP last year. I emailed and she did not respond. More than a month later I did reach her by phone. It was a painful conversation about how basically there was no meaningful chance of getting off the waitlist. I remember thinking this is why they don't return your calls or emails.
In retrospect it's probably best to just let things be no matter how hard that is for those (like me) who want final closure. I don't think the AD offices really know or can predict what can happen. Nevertheless, a more timely return call or email last year would have been nice. We did not reapply this year. |
| Our dd came off the wait list a few years ago in May. I think that's rare. We had other plans and declined. |
