I had a total meltdown this morning. my 3-year-old simply refused to get ready to leave. when I was attempting to put on his socks, he kicked me in the belly with both feet, pretty hard, thinking it was funny. I am 29 weeks pregnant, and it really hurt. (and now of course I'm paranoid that the kick did damage.)
I pushed him away from me (he was on the couch, so he fell back into a big pillow) and screamed "god damn it!" (I NEVER curse in front of my son, and I'm never physical like that, either.) I walked into the bedroom, fell to my knees and sobbed -- really sobbed -- for about five minutes. I've been under tremendous stress on a variety of fronts, and DS has been very uncooperative lately. (I know this behavior is common when mom is pregnant.) I'm normally better able to manage and keep my cool when DS is being bratty, but I totally lost it. share your mommy meltdowns. I'm sure a lot of us have had them. thanks. |
| I posted about mine last week. I was at the doctor's office with my little boys - ages 3 and under 2. We were in the waiting area for over an hour, and then in the waiting room for another hour. They CAN NOT KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF EACH OTHER. They just can't do it. It was the worst experience of my life. By the time I got out of there I just cried and cried and cried all the way to work and didn't leave work until 8PM because I didn't want to go home until after they were in bed. |
| I think the time-outs are more for me than my child. It was a three time-out kind of morning today. I didn't have a complete meltdown but did curse a few times. But, since you are pregnant that does make things a whole lot worse that's for sure. So, cut yourself a break and maybe see if you can get more help from your spouse? Maybe he will have to go in a little later to help with the morning routine. It is not going to get easier the further along you are in the pregnancy. So, prepare now that you got a taste of what is to come. but, remember it is not forever. but, it does feel like it I know. |
