Recommend your peds/shoe liners

What do you use when you don't want to wear a full pair of pantyhose but want a liner in your shoe so you aren't barefoot? I'm particularly looking for something that doesn't cover my entire toe area (not sure what you call that style of shoe, but basically you see the upper part of your toes, not the nail parts). TIA. Obviously I'm new to all of this. I tried Amazon.com but got overwhelmed by the choices and wasn't sure what actually worked and what just slipped off inside your shoe and thus was pointless.
