Ds at hwes. Great school - aap kids also enjoy the magnet facilities - especially in the arts. Class size upper twenties. Long tenured principal - we have had no issues with school administration-we think they do a great job. Strong PTA - lot mor activities than our base school.

not my experience at all. very overcrowded GT classes, 30+ not uncommon. Much much weaker PTA compared to our base school.
The huge class size seriously diminishes the benefits of being in GT. Very good orchestra teacher though.

What is a typical class size for 3rd grade in a non-AAP school? I am also interested in knowing more about HWES. Any information on HWES would be highly appreciated.

It is very crowded but we like the teachers - the home room teachers, dance music, et al. They leverage the Kennedy Center partnership well. We are mildly concerned about diversity- the classes have been 60-70% Asian ( we are Asian so nothing against Asians) just the lack of diversity. Maybe that is typical of many AAP programs.
