Charter Schools

Anonymous
I would like to know if anyone knows a good charter school or catholic school in the NW DC area. My 7 year old is in a PG county school and it does not challenge him enough . I would like to transfer him for the next school year.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you transfer from PG to a DC charter? I have no idea. Anyway, I have heard good things about Capital City Charter; our neighbors have their son there and are pleased, although they may not keep him there all the way through.

If by NW DC you really mean west of Rock Creek, there is Washington Latin. East of the Park, but still in NW are Capital City, E.L. Haynes, LAMB, and a few more that vary in quality. Not in NW, but still good is Two Rivers.

I think the child needs to be a resident of DC to attend a DC public charter school. If he is a resident, then CapCity, EL Haynes, Hope Academy in Brookland, LAMB, Two Rivers are some good ones. There are only a few good Catholic schools in DC that have spots for non-parishioners. Annunciation by the National Cathedral and Our Lady of Victory in Palisades are two.
