I'm so over Sweetgreen

Anonymous
No point to this post other than to vent. I have been going to the Dupont Circle Sweetgreen for lunch ever since it opened, since my office is just a few blocks from there. But lately I feel like they are victims of their own success. The line is just insane lately, to the point where it takes 20 minutes to get my salad. The staff there look so irritated and resentful and aren't even using the little measuring cups in the ingredient bowls to add to your salad, the just stick their hands in and throw in like 3 beans or 4 tomatoes. WTH? I had to ask repeatedly today for them to add the full amount of ingredients to my salad. I cannot see myself going there anymore, and am tempted to write something on their facebook page to let them know how disappointed I am, but maybe I'm just hormonal and being too picky. Anyone else thinking their $9 salads are just not worth it anymore?

I love them, but I've only been to the Reston and Bethesda locations. Those employees are super-nice, especially Christian in Reston (can you tell I go there a lot?).

I fully agree! I just paid $2.25 each for two salads with chicken and there wasn't even the equivalent of one chicken breast in either salad...

I like sweetgreen, but now opt for the free Chopt delivery service. The delivery is free and they like a dollar or two tip, so I do try to order with others from my office, but skipping the line at these places is bliss

I like both Chop't and Sweetgreen, though I like Sweetgreen's salads a little better.

We go to the Dupont location frequently on weekends and enjoy it very much. It's comfortably full but not too crowded then, and they make the salads as carefully as they always have (and even wait patiently as my kid veeeeeeery gradually reveals the specifics of her order-- drives me crazy, so I have trouble doing that!).

Sorry to hear it's less pleasant for weekday lunches these days, but I think the crowding is the problem rather than generally slipping standards at the restaurant. Maybe you could try to time your lunch to minimize competition?

OP here. Yeah, I had been going late, like around 1 p.m., but apparently so does half of dupont circle. Maybe I'll try going at 11:30 and see if that makes a difference. Honestly, I should just be trying to recreate my favorite salads at home and save myself some money.

I feel the same way - they are skimping, We always get their frozen yogurt and recently, when they fill the cup, the yogurt swirls around the side of the cup and the whole middle is empty! I pointed this out the 2nd time so they filled it up, but it is truly a case of rushing and the customer getting the short end of th stick.

...Chop't delivers?! I need to read their stuff more carefully. Good to know.

One time the cashier at the Dupont Sweetgreen inexplicably charged me for two salads, mine and the person's benhind me. When I and the other person pointed it out, the cashier didn't even apologize, and then he took forever voiding it and ringing it up again. I felt like cursing his poseur hipster tattooed self out.

I never did like the place!

Chop'd is the best. Screw Sweetgreen.

I go to the one in Capitol Hill. The staff is nice, but the lines are ridiculous and the prices are too high for what you get IMO.

Try Mixt Greens.
