In my early 40s and love the station's variety -- gives me just enough of the new-age stuff to keep up with DC. Plus, for years they've been getting a taste of my old tunes from back in the day -- and they actually request the station in the van! ![]() |
Just being honest but it's not my cup of tea. I still miss HFS from the old days. I listen to Pandora now so I can hear the Smiths once in a while. I really don't listen to any regular radio anymore. I'm 41 BTW. |
OMG me too. I still mourn the loss of HFS, although I think they're back with an HD station. |
Never be the same without Cerphe, Weasel and Damien. Why hasn't someone written a book!

I got satellite radio back in 2005/2006. Can't imagine going back to terrestrial radio. No commercials, tons of choices, NPR and Howard Stern. ![]() My husband still has regular radio. 97.1 is one of our pre-sets, but it seems like they replaced Glenn Hollis with a woman who, when I listened, seemed to pushing adoption in a weirdly out-of-context, social agenda, type of way. It was very bizarre. Maybe it was an anomaly? Granted, I only listened once. It was just so odd. |
hard to get but a great station - http://www.wtmd.org/
87.9

Smiths poster, right there with you. |
Remember the days when we had real genres of music? Variety is nice, but every darn station here plays the same music! Argh!
I miss Oldies 100 and classic rock 94.7. Awwww. |
Until my DD started repeating so much of what she hears, I listened to 99.5. Now, I switch between CDs, 98.7, 97.1, and 105.9. FWIW, I am 31. |
WASH-FM. Ugh. Awful. |
I wish Z104 was still around. Loved that station. |
Used to listen to WASH for years, but swore off them after they continued to begin playing round-the-clock Christmas music in early November. Every day, every minute until Christmas. Never again! I listen to BIG 100.3 now. |
Sorry for being such a luddite, but what is a an HD station? And is the musical format the same as the old HFS? And to you internet radio listeners crowing about no commercials: On WHFS in the early 70's Listening to Cerphe at 2AM playing Little Feat albums, etc for 50 minutes at a time only to be interrupted by his smooth crooning voice telling you what you had just listened to and then him READING the ads for Waxie Maxie's or High's ice cream or whatever; I would take that any day over the pre-canned crap from Clear Channel One that has lobotomized the music scene. The music on SiRIUS is good but the presentation is soulless. |
They make Hi Definition radios now with shiny new HD channels. Baltimore's 98 Rock has an HD sister station that gave airtime over to on the weekends.
I still have regular old radio in my car. I'm thinking about switching but meh. |
I'm 12:38 and although I sound passionate about the music "scene", that was 20 years ago now I'm like, meh, too. |
