we are househunting and have run into the following boundary progression for some of the homes per the DCPS school locator:
West Elemenary West MS OR Deal MS Roosevelt HS But I thought that every Deal student can feed into Wilson. So, if we choose Deal over Roosevelt, are we good for Wilson too? TIA. |
Sorry, OP again, I meant if we choose Deal over West MS.
I don't have an answer for you, but look forward to hearing the answer from others. I too live in the West EC boundaries and noticed through research the other night that Deal MS is one of our options. I was surprised by that but didn't give the Roosevelt HS option another thought, as we already own within the boundaries of Roosevelt, but know that won't be an option for our daughter (who is only 3 so we can worry about HS a bit later). We don't have the luxury of choosing a house within particular school boundaries as you do, however. But the West EC neighborhood is great overall if you decide to buy here!
bump. Anyone?
Yes, your DC can automatically go to Wilson if he/she goes to Deal MS (unless they change the rules). I am in the same situation -- DC attended Deal as an in boundary student, but is OOB for Wilson and is at Wilson now with an automatic admission by virtue of the feeder pattern from Deal.
Neighborhood school cross referencing with the natural feeder pattern can give parents excellent options.
Under the current rules everyone who attends Deal is entitled to attend Wilson. That rule was instituted in 2009 and you are always at the mercy of the rules changing again.
OP here. Thanks for the info.
