Strollers

I have a bugaboo and have used it maybe 2 times because breaking it down and putting it back together SUCKS. I can't wait for my son to be able to use an umbrella stroller - something that collapses and gets put together EASILY with one hand. Questions: at what age can babies use an umbrella stroller, and what's the "best" kind? (Again, most user-friendly, easy to pack up in car and break down while holding baby in one arm.) My son is 15 weeks old and can't sit up by himself, but he has really good neck control. I know he's still too young, but I can't wait until we're there! Thanks.

Either get a citymini now (not an umbrella, but the easiest fold on the market, and folds super-flat) or wait until closer to 6 months and get a maclaren or a gluxe/glite. I'm personally a huge fan of the gluxe - bigger sunshade than the maclarens and stands up when folded.

Strollers like the First Years Jet or Ignite strollers are inexpensive, and have a slight recline. You could probably use those from about 4 or 5 months, maybe even younger.

An actual umbrella stroller - not until they are sitting unassisted which would probably be around 6 months or older.

I think you should try selling the bugaboo on craig's list while it is still new. You'll be able to recoup a good amount of the cost. Try the citimini as one option. We have an uppa baby and basically don't break it down. Very rare that we fold it but we live it in the entry way so there's that. Also have the G-luxe and love it. I'd say by 5 months or so you could be comfortable with it, and maybe even earlier. When my son was at your baby's age I just used the car seat and snap and go for car trips.

I just love the Uppa Vista so much I can bear with the pain of folding it...

We got an Aprica Presto for quick in and out errand and DC tolerates it but we both still love the Uppa Vista so much!

I love how it folds without having to use my feet and the wheels fold down so the dirty wheels don't touch the fabric and they don't get the trunk dirty in both directions.

The canopy is HUGE, the basket is large but again, the incline is not that great so your LO can't go in there yet.

The more you use the bugaboo, the easier it gets. If you use it every day, by the end of the week you can do it blindfolded. It just takes time (as with anything) to get used to the mechanisms.

I love my Maclaren. I used it at 3 mos. I have a reclining one (techno).

I'll be honest, I bought the citymini because so many on here continually sing it's praises but I find that I never use it! Really, all I have needed is my BOB for jogging and then a simple umbrella stroller for the mall / errand running. I wish I had bought the Uppa Baby G Lite or a Maclaren.

If OP doesn't like a bugaboo, they're sure as hell not going to like it's cheap knockoff, the UppaBaby vista.

I got the Maclaren Techno and love it. Great sunshade and recline, so you could use it for younger infants.

What an asshole!!!! I have the Uppa because we needed the rumble seat which the rich brother doesn't have. And I rec'ed the Aprica re her ? for an umb stroller.

We got a Quinny Zapp and used it no problem at 5-6 months. I never worried about a recline and my child doesn't seem to care.

I love my MacLaren triumph. Started my daughter in it at about 6 months (before that it was winter and we didn't walk much) and we still use it a lot at age 2.5. Look for sales and coupons. (i got it at B-R-Us for about $120 from $180 full price.) note: this one doesn't recline much, but my daughter sleeps in it anyway.

This poster may not have put it well, but it's true - if you don't like the fold on the bugaboo, the UppaBaby fold is a tremendous PIA (requires two hands and a really hard push). However, you can spend $100 bucks on a rumble seat for it. And it has a bigger basket.

we have used a Maclaren as our only stroller since our daughter was four months old. Great stroller, durable, relatively easy for a single person to fold it up one handed while carrying a baby onto the bus, etc etc etc. Can take it on airplanes (at least I could last year).

DD is now 2.5yo and still likes it very much - she rides in it and she pushes it. It's durable and I suspect it'll keep on trucking for DC#2 (due next month) for several years as well.
