So tired of junk mail - vent

We moved a few months ago, and the previous owners get a lot of catalogs. A lot. I've gone online and cancelled as many as I can, called the toll free numbers, and snail-mailed others that don't do it on the phone or online. And we're still getting the junk. Ugh. I know it takes several weeks since the mailings are pre-printed... but ugh. We get like 8-12 catalogs a day. Ugh.

We get a lot too. We've lived in our house for over 10 years, and we got on lists, that then got sold to others, and had live-in nannies order things and get catalogs, it just never ends. Christmas is the worst time.

We're still getting jury duty summons, child support dunning notices, and other court documents for a couple of previous residents, no matter how many times we've written "not at the address" and returned the mail. We've been here six years. I have a very complete and totally unflattering image of the previous resident.

I've followed the advice from
http://consumerist.com/2008/03/8-ways-to-opt-out-of-junk-mail-lists.html

I am just so surprised at how much junk mail one family gets. I've never gotten so much before in my life. And its not that any of it is "bad" (Crate & Barrel, LL Bean, Cabellas, REI, Crutchfield, Wine Enthusiast, Cigar Affectianado, Ballard Designs, Restoration Hardware, Bounty Hunter... and on and on and on) its just the mere mountain of junk I have every day. It's a waste - both of resources (paper, ink, oil/gas to deliver) but also its a waste of time that I have to sort through it to find my bills. I was late on my first gas bill because I most likely tossed it with the mountain of junk and then I got a late notice.
