What a joke of a PR stunt.
The only reaosnn he is going is becuase Gabrielle Gifford is going to be there. I certainly hope that when he is there he visits with all the peopel who will be out of work next year and explain to them how he plans on finding them jobs instead of just showing up for a photo op. |
oh noes! The president going to the last shuttle launch ever? WTH? Who does he think he is? I mean, it isn't the end of a NASA era or anything. And he isn't the president of the US or anything. God, why can't he just stay in DC and get some work done...you'd think he represents multiple facets of the country or something. |
oops, I meant the SECOND to last shuttle launch ever. Atlantis will be the last in June. |
While my political views are no doubt seen as both racist and fascist here on DCUM, and I am a confirmed Obama hater, OP is totally on crack. In fact, I suspect it is a fake Obama hater trying to make the rest of us look bad.
This is one of the few things that Obama has done that makes me like him more, rather than less. If there is one thing all Americans *should* be able to agree on, it is that we are damn proud of our space program and our astronauts. |
I am very proud of the space program and it shoudl be funded 100%. why go to the second to last? why not the last? why is clinton the only sitting presdient to ever see one live? |
How to attack Obama on an event:
1. Did Obama attend? Go to step 3. 2. Print "How can Obama attend X when we have crises Y and Z upon us! Where are his priorities?!!?!". Go to step 4. 3. Print "Obama is elitist and out of touch for not acknowledging Event X. He hates America". 4. Print "This is another example of how Obama does not know how to lead. President A knew better.". |
It's a good opportunity to have a photo op without flies buzzing around the president. Rocket fuel and exhaust repels insects and flies. The rocket exhaust should be able to overwhelm the presidents horrible odor so that even his children will not mind being near B O. I think it's a no brained that he should definately go there. Airports would be good for him too, jet fuel and exhaust is very similar. |
There may be some points worth discussing, pro and con, about the visit. Why can't you do that rather than wasting your time ranting? |
Now it's kind of like an expected joke... How will the body odor poster bring up the president's strong musk. In defense of this crazy, who I think is a teeny bit funny now, Michelle Obama brought it up first. If I was the First Lady I would never out my husband's hygiene issues, no matter how humanizing it is. I'm no great fan of Obama, and I think Michelle was dumb for mentioning it, but the BO poster was stupid for bringing it up in the first place and has now been elevated to "humorous in a juvenile way." By me. Officially.
Only person to work BO and rocket fuel/insect repellant in together... A- for effort, C- for awkward usage/sentence structure and spelling. On to the more pressing topic at hand, why is Obama going? It shouldn't be any great surprise that the administration places a premium on face time. Essentially, Obama is campaigning hard for reelection but it's very nuanced--it's not about making big news, just expensive fundraisers and lots of little news. Garner the $$$ support through engagement and have a constant stream of below the fold news stories to maintain the attention of people who can't shell out $5k+ to eat dinner with him. He is going to be briefly mentioned on the Florida evening news (likely the goal) since Florida is a big state that he will need in the next election; especially, since he will prob lose Virginia and definitely N. Carolina. Believe me, it is HIGHLY doubtful he will be taking photos with Gabby Giffords because she is not photo ready, that's not his reason/agenda for being there but nice try OP. She is going to be in her own separate room, btw. |
I accept what you say about keeping GG away from too much attention, but it would surprise me if the Pres does not get an opportunity to go in and pay his respects, and then to come out with some uplifting words about the Congresswoman's progress. That is, if she actually goes. |
Thank u.... Above. People who aren't aware they smell terrible are not very smart. I would not follow a leader who literally stinks . Some people have a poor sense of smell( like if they have a sinus infection problem) the president should seek these folks to be in his administration, or at least issue clothespins to his immediate staff/family/press core. |
Yes, we are all aware of your phobia. Thankfully for you, the Secret Service won't be letting you anywhere near the Prez after your wackadoodle posts. As for your cabinet advice he said thanks and wanted to let you know that obsessive compulsive disorder is treatable. |
Looks like GG is on her way: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/27/gabrielle-giffords-flying-shuttle-launch_n_854349.html |
PP, I encourage you to write letters directly to POTUS on this topic. Be sure to put a return address on it! We know you'll leave at least a teaspoon of your own DNA on anything that you send to POTUS. The same way you leave some in your own underwear every time you type Mr. Obama's name. |
He would have gone if this were his second term. This is history. He's got a sense of that. Now everything he does is going to be taken as a PR stunt. But that can't be. |
