I am looking for a sunscreen recommendation. I do not think that there is a such thing as a natural sunscreen (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong), but I would like one that is close to it with a high SPF. I have tried California baby and I am not a fan of it for my child. My child is biracial (has brown skin), and no matter how hard I try to rub that sunscreen on my child, he walks around looking white/grey. Thanks to all.
I think the best sunscreen is supposed to be the type that sits on your skin and does not blend into it. So something like zinc. The micro-blend ones sink into your skin.
Oh I didn't know this. So does this mean that California baby sunscreen is a good one? |
yeah, i think california baby is supposed to be good. it is hard to blend in, i agree.
The non-chemical sunscreens have titanium dioxide as the active ingredient. It is a physical barrier so it does not totally disappear into the skin but rather, sits on the skin and physically blocks the sun from reaching the skin. The chemical sunscreens use avobenzene or other similar chemicals to block the sun.
I am also looking for recommendations for DC who has sensitive skin (used to have eczema as a baby and toddler).
We use Vanicream for sensitive skin. I believe you can get it from CVS, but the pharmacist has to order it for you.
Loving Naturals is highly rated by the Environmental Working Group (as non-toxic) and is vegan/ not tested on animals.
