I don't think you will be able to find another restaurant with food as bad as Sequoia's.

Omg. Look at all of the f*cks I do not give about that flooding.

I'm sorry. What was your question?

Wow. Nice people --- no?

13:29 nailed it. Maybe someplace up Conn Ave has better food AND the ambiance you're looking for?

Lots of water views up Connecticut Avenue, are there?

There are supposed to be some lovely drains.

OP, I don't remember the name of the place, but there's a restaurant in VA just off the GW parkway between DC and Alexandria that has some lovely water views. I've also heard that the food is reminiscent of Sequoia, as well (read: shitty).

OP again -- I never said I went to Sequoia because of the food -- I like the people watching opp and the view of the water.

We know. We were just being bitches. Well I was. You could try the riverside Old Angler's Restaurant up MacArthur...Unless it too has been washed out to sea.

How about Cafe Leopolds or Cafe Milano or Peacock Cafe (the food at Peacock is just okay, but the people watching is great and the owners are lovely to children). You could also sit outside at Paolos or Martin's.

I don't think that people-watching in most other neighborhoods is as fun as Georgetown. Certainly not up Connecticut Avenue.

There are also the crap restaurants of SW which sit on the river. Phillips (seriously from hell) and the other one, I forget the name. The ambience is like Smooth Jazz 98 meets Applebee's. Just really, really bad. Sorry but there is nothing comparable in DC in terms of outdoor views of the river because the restaurant and surrounding condo/coop were built in a FLOOD PLAIN.

^^sorry. not shouting at you. Just the insurance claims that will be filed and the fees to everyone involved it will be just sickening. But, I digress.

Thanks for some great ideas!
